The above chart is from Twist, a tool that allows one to monitor twitter trends.
For this analysis, I’m comparing the number of twitters in the past week for Obama, Mccain, Palin, and Biden.  The spike for the blue line (at the end of this chart) seems to suggest that Obama saw an almost tripling of comments on twitter due (I’m guessing) to his infomercial.  Who knows if that is good or bad, and I would argue that twitter users skew dem, but still this is interesting.
Also, Mccain and Palin trend very closely together and Biden is all but nonexistent.
I wish I could also see sentiment (% positive/negative) because I think that would be very telling.  As a proxy, here are a few of the latest twitters on each:
Mccain
I like hope and I feel good about my country when obama speaks. never really had that about Bush or mcCain
Saw a poll a while back: majority voting for Obama, but majority TRUST McCain. What??????
McCain: “Obama paid more for negative ads against me than any candidate in history” Must have missed those. Attacks on policy DON’T COUNT
Palin:
The Way That We Should See McCain and Palin From Now On:Maverick Personality Disorder: A New Diagnosis:http://tinyurl.com/5ggtte
oy, now it’s mccain-palin on and they’ve got hank williams, jr just butchering the hell out of the national anthem
Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin should both go on “The Surreal Life.”
Obama:
the obama show was freaking AWESOME http://tinyurl.com/6oj6dp did you know that we’re voting in 5 days? CRAZY
Obama is just amazing… Watch the video and see how a real leader inspires a nation. http://tinyurl.com/6oj6dp
Evin just said he wants an Obama costume for Halloween next year.
Biden:
watching the Obama infomercial. As if I already wasn’t on Team Obama/Biden. Can’t wait for Nov. 4th!!!
i just really can’t find much with Obama to rag on. But thats just me. Obama/Biden 08!
Obama gave America a clear plan to restore prominence. Vote Obama/Biden!
twitter is a treasure trove for a researcher like me.
