Learning from my inbox
Xobni is a nifty Outlook plug-in that does many things (easier search, threaded conversations, instant access to attachments, etc.), but what I’m interested in now is what it can teach me about my email patterns.
Since it tracks all of my emails, it produces charts for me to tell me how many emails I receive by day or hour. The chart above shows me, on average, how many emails I send by hour and how many emails I receive, by hour.
Based on this information, I could either keep my mornings (from 9-10) free to read the emails or plan to read them later when I’m receiving less email.  It appears from my patterns that I must read them and then respond later as my email sent spikes around 4pm.
I also took a look at my average response time, which has been pretty steady at ~30 minutes.  This tells me that my response time isn’t an issue.
Based on these metrics, I’m pretty happy with my email use.
